Blok, Anton. The Mafia of a Sicilian Village 1860-1960. London: William Clowes & Sons, Limited, 1974. Print.
Blok, a cultural anthropologist, lived in Sicily and interviewed the residents about their lives concerning the Mafia and therefore has a personal connection to this topic. He delves into every aspect of their lives, but he avoided their religious lives, which is the only thing missing from his field research. Mainly, Blok compares and contrasts the Sicilian Mafia and the local Sicilian government. Additionally, he closes in on the circumstances that created the Mafia in Sicily and keep it in place today.
