Annotated Bibliography 3

Graebner Anderson, Annelise. The Business of Organized Crime: A Cosa Nostra Family. 1. Hoover Institute Press, 1978. Print.
Anderson discusses the illegal activity of the Benguerra family, one of the Cosa Nostra affiliates, in a case study format. It details the doings of about 75 men in the United States branch of the Cosa Nostra. She, like Paoli, details where she finds her sources and proves them to be legitimate and trustworthy. Anderson connects the Benguerra family’s gambling and loansharking business with its legitimate business investments. This has been proven to be a common mafia move, interweaving the illegal practices with genuine businesses to make it harder for wary law enforcement to convict the Mafiosi.
